Hormone Harmony Book Review
Recently my staff and I had the opportunity to review a new book by way of our partnership with BodyLogicMD. Assuming it to be yet another medical book, dryly written, we were very pleasantly surprised to find ourselves reading a book that not only proved to be a compelling page turner- but one that was inspiring and empowering on several levels.
The book is ‘Hormone Harmony: How to Balance Insulin, Cortisol, Thyroid, Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone to Live Your Best Life’ (published by Healthy Life Library-2009) and co-authored by Dr. Alicia Stanton (Chief Medical Officer for BodyLogicMD) and veteran health writer, Vera Tweed.
Right off the bat, we were enthralled by Dr. Stanton’s personal health story. It is a riveting tale of terror, hardship, agony, overcoming -and eventual thriving—and has served as the catalyst for her career transition from mainstream medicine to more alternative forms of healing. To say her story earns respect, is a profound understatement.
Couple Dr. Stanton’s story with Vera Tweed’s lifelong interest in healing modalities and this becomes clearly one dynamic duo of health!
‘Hormone Harmony’ is clearly and concisely written, yet lays out for the reader not only a solid strategy for achieving hormone balance and subsequent true health- but provides keen insights into the ‘whys’ and ‘wherefores’ of just how hormone imbalance begins, and the myriad health problems such imbalance generates within the human body- be it female or male.
‘Hormone Harmony’ provides an all-encompassing understanding of the body- and the endocrine system in general. In so doing, the reader comes to understand how intricate and intimately connected this system is, what its requirements are for achieving and maintaining homeostasis, and where the modern lifestyle/diet actually undermines -and in many cases destroys- this delicate balance.
Readers of this book will be educated not only on diet i.e.: the best way to eat to protect and support the adrenals; they will also learn about proper exercise techniques, health tests to pursue- and things to avoid in order to achieve maximum health and wellness during the rather challenging time of peri menopause and menopause.
There is even a highly informative chapter for men dealing with the very real condition of Andropause, aka: Male Menopause.
If you’re looking for a way to gain solid control of your life and health and/or ways to get the most out of your next Doctor’s appointment- this book provides all the information you need- in easy to understand language.
We recommend it highly- and we are honored to have had the chance to review it!
