Kids and Menopause

I can’t say how glad I am that spring break is over and the kids all go back to school tomorrow. Even with my menopause symptoms doing so much better with treatment, having the kids at home all last week was just too much. I was eager to go to work to escape them. Yeah, plenty of kids come in at the restaurant all the time, but they’re not MY kids.

I used to be a lot more patient than I am now. Now, all the “Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom” just makes me want to SCREAM! They never seem to be able to demand enough. “Feed me! Play with me! Help me do this!” And they argue between each other (I’ve got a 16-year-old and a 9-year-old at home) and try to get me to say who’s right and who’s wrong. And when it’s none of that, it’s NEVER really important. “Look at this rock! Watch me play this game! Look, I’m reading!”

I know I probably sound horrible, and I should be right there with the kids all the time, and I should appreciate that they both want me in their lives (especially the older one). But I’m just one woman, and I have other things to do, too! It wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t so CONSTANT.

And, of course, they’ve been leaving PatientHubby alone.

Love and balance (even amidst the crazies),

Teresa
