Rachael Ray, Menopause, and Me

Project and snow 073(2)

Hi Maniacs from snowed in DC!

It’s been crazy with all of the snow and blizzards.  The beach is calling me!  Today I want to ignore the snow and talk about Rachael Ray!

Rachael Ray has the best hair!  Can I just start by saying I would give away one of my cats to walk around with such beautiful flow-y and shiny hair!  I really like my cat and I would miss him terribly.  Bye Nemo, it’s been real!

Rachael Ray, (can I just call her Rach? ) and I have a lot in common.  We were born in the same year and have Cajun ancestry.  That is why we have such a passion for food!  Have you ever eaten in New Orleans?  I have fantasies about eating my way through the French Quarter.  Don’t worry, I will keep my shirt down!  She also wants to spread awareness about perimenopause and menopausal symptoms!  Love her for that!

Rachael Ray has been doing some great work on raising awareness about menopause.  That dirty “M” word.  I will admit it right here, I don’t like saying I am going through menopause!  It makes me feel old, it makes me feel wrinkly, it makes me feel uncool, and it makes me feel like I should just curl up with embarrassment.  How stupid is that?  Don’t worry, I am slowly lifting my head and whispering that I am going through menopause.  Baby steps….

My new BFF Rach, just did a show on February 9th, 2010 on hot flashes.  I used to have hot flashes.  Did you catch that?  USED TO!  There were some great ideas on the show.  I especially like the Chillow idea.  How many of you flip your pillow over to the “cool side” in the middle of the night? I haven’t used any of the ideas on her show; however, I found a different remedy.  I use bioidentical hormones.  I rub the medicine into my skin twice a day and voila!   Hot flashes are gone!  Moods are elevated!  Mini-Maniac (the TRUE teenage Maniac!) said I am not as angry anymore.  Although she changes her tune when she’s in trouble! 🙂

Keep up the great work Rach!  We’re all in this together!

Hugs from DC,

Monica

  • I have had those hot flashes and everything that goes along with them.

Luckily I was able to get off of hormones after about 2 years and I would love to get the rest of my body in sync with itself and return to some sort of normalcy.

Is there a hormone for that?

    • Hi Rowena,

I am going to refer you to some good information regarding the particular symptoms of hormone imbalance and the connnection to particular hormones. If you don’t find your answer here, don’t hesitate to come back and let us know how we can be of further assistance…
