September is Menopause Awareness Month!

Did you even know this existed?  I didn’t until very recently.  I have to be honest, I am psyched!  Menopause no longer has to be this horrible “hush hush” ailment.  We no longer have to keep quiet and suffer in silence.  Screw that!  I am now a part of a very elite group!  We are warriors!   We are not content to just sit around spreading, sweating, and sagging!  Never!  What are our battle weapons?  Bioidentical hormones!

Now, picture me on a horse a la Braveheart….Are you picturing it?  I am the one riding with a glass of merlot; waving it around with lots of feeling and emotion.

“Embrace your menopause, ladies!  Grab your weapons and fight!  You are not fat!  You are not a bitch!  You are not sweating!  Ok, you are probably sweating.  Your skin is not sagging!  You are beautiful!  You are strong!  You are smart!  You are warriors!  Grab your hormones!  Rub them in!  Take your vitamins!  Drink your wine!  I mean, eat balanced meals!  We will win!  FREEDOOOOOOOM!”

Fight on ladies.

This is GREAT. Thanks for doing this blog. You are NOT the only one in our age group/class going through this. FB will shortly be taken over by all of us menopausal women! I was suffering for almost a year before I figured it out–all on my own too. Doc just confirmed it a month or so ago. I told my mom this means she is now officially OLD. 🙂
I decided to not have any therapy at this point. I’ve added some soy to my diet and a LOT of vitamins/herbal supplements that I get from my fab chiropractor. Just knowing it wasn’t me going crazy or being a bitch has helped the family out the most. You’ve got a great network here and I’m sending your link to everyone I know going through this too. You’ll never be alone on this again!!

  • Awesome! I will make my own Braveheart menopause chant, too! I love that we’ve taken menopause out of the taboo, I think it’ll help my daughter a lot when she goes through it.  Fight on, indeed!  One thing that’s been super-valuable to me in dealing with occasional nighttime hot flashes is my ChiliPad: – a mattress pad that cools the bed down at night.  Just thought I’d share a tip!

    Hi Lauren,
Sorry I didn’t respond, your posting didn’t come up in my feed. Thank you so much for your love and support. It really means so much to me. I like your natural approach. I think that is why I turned to bioidentical hormones in the end. I did the natural approach for about 5 years and after the symptoms were becoming close to unbearable, I knew something had to change. I think the vitamins are an excellent idea! I am happy you have a doctor supporting you through your trials. Stay in touch!

    Hi Amelie,
Love your energy! I completely agree that we are blazing a new path for our daughters! I have three of them and I know they are watching me closely. I have heard of the chilipad and glad it’s working for you. Thankfully, I don’t have night sweats at this time, but when I do, you can count on me checking them out! Stay strong! 🙂

    Hugs to all of you!
