Symptoms You Never Hear About
Nobody ever really prepared me for menopause. I didn’t know what to expect. Yeah, I’d heard about the hot flashes and moodiness (but not to the full extent that I feel it!), but that was it. I never expected to be such a tightly-wound bundle of nerves. And I definite didn’t expect the dizziness!
For me, it’s not so much that the room starts spinning, or anything like that. Just that I get really sort of light-headed, and have to sit down for a bit. If I don’t, I feel like I’m going to lose my balance, and just fall down. And it can happen anytime, anywhere.
When it first started, I didn’t know what was going on with me. I was sure that I must have had some kind of horrible disease. I never thought it could be my hormones. I was actually relieved when I found out that it was just another nasty menopause symptom. But that didn’t really help me overcome it!
I had a bad episode last night at work. Imagine this:
It’s a busy night, and right at suppertime. The tables are packed. You’re running around like crazy, and it’s not just your tables. Other tables keep calling you over, because it is so packed, and no one can give all their tables enough attention. So people keep calling you over, because their drinks need to be refilled, or their food isn’t cooked right, or can they have some ketchup, or whatever? Which keeps you away from your tables, too.
And in the midst of all of that – BOOM! Now you’re all light headed, and it hurts just behind and above your eyes, and you feel weak-kneed and off-balance. You don’t have time to sit down, but if you don’t, you’re going to fall down.
Yeah, it’s not fun. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Love and balance,
