Update

I have been asked on numerous occasions how the bioidentical hormone therapy is going.  That is a really rough question for me to answer.

Here is what I want to say:

I FEEL GREAT!  I noticed a change within weeks!  More energy, less cranky, no crying, no shoe throwing, and I lost 20 pounds!!!!!!!!!

Here’s the truth:

I feel the same.  I threw shoes…..and a laundry basket.  Twice.

I am determined to remain positive though.  I have been told it can take months for the effects to be felt.  Dr. Thomas put me on the lowest possible doses and I appreciate his conservative approach.  I will be drooling into the tubes at the end of the week and I am anxious to see the results.  I think my anxiety is going to be very similar to when I first started this process.  Originally I wondered if there was going to be an imbalance at all.  Turns out there was and was put on 4 different medications.  Now, I worry that everything is balanced and this is the best it gets.

I really appreciate this blog and the support it gives.  Please keep posting your responses and I promise to keep up.  You help me as much as I help you!

Hugs to all of you!

Sweetie, Im sorry. Im sure its just like you said… it will take time. I mean think about how much time your hormones took to get this way. They have to be a little stingy 🙂

    Love you!!

Hang in there! The wait can be difficult, especially when your feeling anxious. Sometimes the “conservative” approach can seem like you’ve been given a baby aspirin to treat your migraine. The good news is you may just need more for it to be therapeutic for you. It doesn’t mean it won’t work, it just might mean it’s not the right dose! Let me know how it goes!

Yvette, I am trying to be patient. I tend to be the kind of person that wants instant gratification. Knowing what I have read though, I can’t expect it to change overnight.

Denise, Thank you so much for your support. I do appreciate the conservative approach since I tend to be wary of taking medications. If the low doses had been optimal, then it would be perfect! 🙂 I will keep my spirits up.

    Thanks girls! 🙂

Sorry you aren’t feeling your best yet. I have been on the hormone protocol for over a year and still feel bad. I guess I feel a bit better but I am suffering with depression which I was hoping it would help with and it has not:(. I never had the hot flashes but I did suffer from insomnia and I still do. Some people find such great relief and some don’t. Hope you feel better soon.

    Hi Bev,

I am sorry to hear you are not getting more relief from your hormone protocol. Have you spoken to your doctor recently about your depression? Perhaps it’s time to be re-tested and tweak those meds! Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

I looked over my spreadsheet and it looks like I haven’t had a real episode of insomnia since late August, so I hope that the other hormones will fall into place as well.

    Take care,
    Monica
